Ersoy: Turkey will be in the top three in the world in tourism

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy made his first official visit to his hometown Antalya after the Presidential Election and 28th Term Parliamentary Elections. Ersoy, who was assigned as a minister for the second time in the new cabinet, met with citizens at the AK Party Antalya Provincial Presidency. AK Party Antalya deputies Mustafa Köse, Kemal Çelik, İbrahim Ethem Taş also accompanied Ersoy. In his speech here, Minister Ersoy stated that the most important election of 2023 is in Turkey. Stating that the voters gave Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the presidency for another 5 years, Ersoy said that he was pleased to be appointed as the Minister of Culture and Tourism for the second time.

'5 YEARS HAVE BEEN CHALLENGING'

Speaking about the past period, Minister Ersoy said that 5 years were difficult. Stating that they experienced disasters that would happen once in a century in the world in 5 years, Ersoy said, "It has been a very challenging 5 years for our sector. In this 5-year period, disasters that will come once in a century came at once. Coronavirus, forest fires, Russia-Ukraine war, earthquake and the difficulties brought by the election. Although this whole process was very troublesome, we carried it out successfully. We came out of this process by setting an example to the world," he said.

NEW TARGET IN TOURISM

Speaking about 2019, which is considered as the year of records in the tourism sector, Minister Ersoy reminded that 39 billion dollars of revenue was obtained from 51.5 million visitors in 2019. Stating that in 2022, the number of visitors reached 51.5 million and the revenue generated increased, Minister Ersoy announced the new target and said:

"We ranked 6th in the world in 2019 and 3rd in the world in 2022. We achieved success in the sector by jumping 3 places. Our goals in the Turkish Century are very big. We say 60 million visitors, 56 billion dollars in revenue. In 2028, we say 90 million visitors and 100 billion dollars in revenue. We say that Turkey will be in the top three in the world in tourism. While saying this, we will not take refuge in excuses. There will be obstacles and difficulties, but we will get stronger. We will work harder. We will overcome the excuses and obstacles without seeing them as excuses. We will reach our goals for Turkey Century."

Ersoy added that they will work hand in hand with the deputies to solve all kinds of problems of Antalya in the Parliament.
